About Shane Coates
Shane Coates has spent more than forty years around the Australian transport industry — as a truck driver, owner-driver, accident investigator and working alongside some of the people and businesses that helped shape it. Along the way, he discovered that the trucks, depots and companies were only ever half the story.
Today, through Grit and Ink, Shane tells the stories of the people behind them — the builders, risk-takers, characters and families whose experiences are too easily lost with time. His books aren't written as corporate histories. They are written as stories: personal, honest and without pretence — much like many of the people whose stories fill their pages.
